Genetic Service Coordinator

Joan is a graduate of Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, and has work experience in neonatal intensive care, pediatrics and public health.  Joan joined the GGC in 1999 as a genetic service coordinator for clients served by the South Carolina Disabilities and Special Needs. She coordinates clinics in the Lower Piedmont region which includes Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, Anderson, McCormick and Saluda counties, and the regional residential facility at Whitten Center. Joan assists in obtaining historical information prior to the genetic visit, assists the clinical geneticist during the evaluation, and coordinates necessary follow-up and referrals.
