Genetic Service Coordinator

Rachel joined the Greenwood Genetic Center in October of 2007. She is one of two Genetic Service Coordinators in the Charleston area, where she serves as the primary office-based coordinator. She sees both private patients and individuals served by the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, primarily from the coastal region of South Carolina. Her job focuses on assisting families with understanding the genetic evaluation, assisting with that evaluation, ensuring that any testing or referrals are ordered, and finding valuable services in the community for patients and their families.

Prior to joining the Greenwood Genetic Center’s team, Rachel worked as a Service Coordinator for the Disabilities and Special Needs Boards in both Greenville and Dorchester counties, serving children and adults with a wide variety of developmental challenges. She also served the Charleston County Disabilities and Special Needs Board as an Early Interventionist, working one-on-one with children to help them meet developmental milestones prior to entering the school system. She has been a strong advocate for children, adults, and their families for over 9 years.

Rachel graduated with a B. A. in English from Furman University, where she was also the recipient of the Alden Scholarship. She also has a strong background in Clinical Psychology.
