Biochemical Lab

The Biochemical Laboratory of the Greenwood Genetic Center provides diagnostic and screening tests for a variety of inherited metabolic disorders. Analyte and enzyme testing is available for disorders including lysosomal storage diseases, congenital disorders of glycosylation, mucolipidoses and numerous inborn errors of metabolism. As members of GGC’s Metabolic Treatment Team, our Biochemical Laboratory faculty and staff strive to provide clinicians and families with an accurate and rapid confirmatory diagnosis as well as follow-up testing for newborns in SC suspected of having a metabolic disorder. The Biochemical Laboratory also houses the Prenatal Screening Laboratory which provides maternal serum screening.
