Prenatal Lab
The Prenatal Screening Laboratory of the Greenwood Genetic Center offers both first and second trimester maternal serum screening to identify pregnancies with an increased chance of Down syndrome, trisomy 13, trisomy 18 and/or a neural tube defect. Prenatal confirmatory testing for neural tube defects can also be performed through amniotic fluid analysis of alpha-fetoprotein and acetylcholinesterase. Prenatal chromosomal analysis is available through the Cytogenetics Laboratory.
