GGC to Host Conclave on 'The Genetics of Limb Defects'

March 27,2013 - The Greenwood Genetic Center is hosting the SC Genetics Conclave on Friday April 12, 2013. The one-day conference will feature various GGC faculty speaking on congental limb defects. Additionally, Dr. Tom Sadler, GGC Senior Genetics Scholar and author of the embryology text, Langman's Medical Embryology, will be presenting Embryology of the Limbs.

GGC Genetics Resident Awarded at ACMG

March 19, 2013 –Caleb Bupp, MD, Clinical Genetics Resident at the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) has been selected for a platform presentation at the upcoming American College of Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) annual meeting. Bupp has also been chosen as the 2013 recipient of the ACMG Foundation/Signature Genomics Travel Award given annually to a student or trainee presenting at the meeting. Dr. Bupp will be presenting "Twenty Years of Neural Tube Defect Surveillance and Prevention in South Carolina."

January is Birth Defects Prevention Month

January 21, 2013 - While January has been officially proclaimed by Governor Nikki Haley as Birth Defects Prevention Month, the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) works year-round to educate future parents that the risk for many types of birth defects can be reduced through lifestyle choices and medical interventions before pregnancy.
