Timmons Foundation Provides Gift for GGC's Autism Research

July 1, 2016 – Dr. Ennis and Dru James of the Bill and Connie Timmons Foundation have designated a gift of $100,000 to the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) Foundation. The funds will directly support the Center's ongoing research on autism spectrum disorder (ASD).


Fellows Complete Medical Genetics Training Program

Fellows2016June 22, 2016 - The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) recognized three graduating fellows from the Center's Medical Genetics Training Program at a statewide meeting on Wednesday. Katrina Simmons, PhD (Biochemical Genetics), Abbas Padeganeh, PhD, (Cytogenetics), and Raymond Louie, PhD (Molecular Genetics) have completed two years of fellowship training beyond their doctoral-level work in preparation to lead a diagnostic laboratory. Following completion of the training program, fellows are eligible to take the board certification examination in their area of specialty. GGC offers the only medical genetics training program in the state of SC and is accredited by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.

GGC's Autism Program Receives BCBS SC Foundation Grant

June 10, 2016 – The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) has been awarded a $300,000 grant from the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation. The one-year grant will support the Center's ongoing work to develop a blood-based diagnostic test for autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
