Local Church Helps Honduran Child Seek Care at GGC

August 3, 2015 – Carolina Escobar is a 3 year old girl from Honduras. Her initial months were happy and healthy, like any typical infant, but then something happened that caused great concern. Around 18 months of age, Carolina began regressing – losing abilities and skills that she had acquired. Her mother, Iris, brought her to see an American medical mission team from South Carolina in January with the hope of finding answers. Little did she know at the time that Iris would not only receive the answer she had been desperately searching for, but that her daughter would be diagnosed by a physician who had expertise in her rare disorder, and one who is actively searching for a treatment.


GGC Researchers Honored by Snyder-Robinson Foundation

July 29, 2015 – The Greenwood Genetic Center's Dr. Roger Stevenson and Dr. Charles Schwartz, were honored at the first Snyder-Robinson Syndrome Conference in Arlington, Virginia last week. The Snyder Robinson Foundation presented the award to Stevenson, GGC co-founder, and Schwartz, GGC's Director of Research, in special recognition of their research and work with Snyder-Robinson syndrome.

Dr. Walter Kaufmann Named Curry Chair in Genetic Therapeutics

At a 2012 GGC event, Ravenel Curry shared the passion and dedication that his late father, Boykin Curry, had for the mission and vision of the Greenwood Genetic Center. That vision is closer than ever to being fulfilled with the recent announcement that Dr. Walter Kaufmann will join GGC in September as the Ravenel Boykin Curry Chair in Genetic Therapeutics.
