GGC's DuPont Elected to American Cytogenetics Conference Board

May 2, 2014 – Barbara DuPont, PhD, Senior Director of the Greenwood Genetic Center's Cytogenetics Laboratory, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Cytogenetics Conference (ACC). She will officially join the board at their 43rd conference in Asheville, NC next week.


Duke Endowment Grant to Fund Treatment Initiatives at GGC

March 13, 2014 - The Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC), which comprises the Department of Medical Genetics at Self Regional Healthcare, has been awarded a 3-year grant totalling $2.75 million from The Duke Endowment to fund an expansion of the Center's treatment initiatives.

January 27, 2014 – "My job is to spread the word about how to have a healthy baby," shares Jane Dean, RN, who sits in her office at the Greenwood Genetic Center surrounded by the fruits of her work - countless photos of smiling babies which were shared with her by grateful parents. Dean is the Statewide Coordinator for the SC Birth Defects Prevention Program and works directly with families who have lost newborns or experienced the birth of a child with a severe birth defect of the brain and spine, known as a neural tube defect.
