'Eating Well' - Science on Tap to feature GGC dietitian on healthy eating

AmieThompsonGreenwood, SC - ‘Science on Tap’ will be held on Tuesday, January 9th at 6pm at Howard’s on Main in Uptown Greenwood. Science on Tap is a community lecture series designed to share some of the scientific advances happening in Greenwood.

The January 9th event will feature Amie Thompson, RD, LD, a metabolic dietitian at the Greenwood Genetic Center. Thompson will share ‘Eating Well: The Good, the Bad and the Yummy.’ The presentation will be followed by time for discussion and questions.

“Now that the holidays are over and everyone is trying to work on those New Year’s resolutions, we’ll talk about why ‘diet’ really is a four letter word,” said Thompson. “Find out why following the fads isn’t always the best idea, why getting all nutrients are important, and how eating healthy can still include dessert!”

Science on Tap is an initiative started and organized by the Greenwood Genetic Center. “This program originated as a way for local scientists to share their expertise in an informal and accessible way with the broader Greenwood community,” said Leta Tribble, PhD, Director of Education at the Greenwood Genetic Center.

The public is invited, and the event is free to attend.
